Capitalism

Capitalism is by far the best economic system in the world. Others have been tried and have failed miserably to create the amount of freedom and wealth that we enjoy in this great country. The greatest part of capitalism is the system is designed for the individual to choose the best path for him/her. Everyone working separately allows the system to work for the good of everyone. This is all done without the government getting involved in anyway. The individuals who designed capitalism decided that it was best if the government had no involvement in the system. Once the government gets involved it is called control capitalism. This is what we now have in the United States.

Capitalist have been described as greedy, profiteering people that do not care about anything or anyone but themselves. Occasionally this is true, but it not the norm. Most capitalist donate a good portion of their income to charities and many volunteer their time as well.

Corporate profits are one of the most talked about thing in America today. The companies that make a profit are for some reason are considered to be evil companies that are taking advantage of the average person. But the way capitalism works is if people think they are being taken advantage of by a corporation they can stop buying the products that the corporation produces. If everyone stops buying the products of said corporation then it would go out of business and people wouldn’t have to worry about being taken advantage of by that company any longer.

Back to corporate profits. Let’s say that Apple just came out with a brand new iPhone. If they do not sell enough of them to make a profit, what is the incentive for them to develop another generation of it. The answer is simple, nothing. When a company makes a profit they in turn use that money to research, develop, and market new products. But if Apple was not to make a profit on the iPhone then they would stop developing new ones. This is the beauty of the Free-market. The consumer is in control of what gets produced by the corporations.

Capitalism has also created an enormous amount of wealth in the United States. No other country in the world has a higher standard of living than the United States. This wealth has been created entirely because of the free-market. The free-market allows an individual, no matter what his/her status in the society, to make something of him/herself depending on their ambitions in life. If one wanted to become a millionaire in America, all they have to do is work hard and make right decisions. The individual makes all the decisions on whether or not to succeed.

Liberty is the freedom of the individual to live their life the way that they see fit. That is what the capitalistic system provides. It lets the individual make all the decisions on how to live their life. Without capitalism Americans would not be free, they would be enslaved to the state. This is how capitalism differs from other types of economic systems.
